Our United Way giving
campaign has begun! We have a great start and hope you will join us online
to make your gift. Whether you are an old hand at conducting business
using a computer or not yet initiated, one of the questions that always
comes up is…is it safe, is it secure.
The short answer is yes. But let me give you the longer answer, too.
United Way’s web site is safe. It has been tested and tested again.
This testing has been done by experts in the field of ecommerce for
United Way and also by well regarded companies in the area. You probably
recognize some of the names: FedEx Ground, Nova Chemical and the PNC
Financial Services Group.
United Way’s web site is secure. It has the highest level of security
encryption of the industry’s standard to protect your valuable, personal
information.
This is the third electronic campaign. If you like numbers here are a
few.
• 11,652 gifts were received and process online in the 2002 campaign
• 105 companies and organizations went online for charities and United
Way
• $4.2 million moved online during the 2002 campaign
• The largest gift was $36,000 given online
