About Us

Thru classes, VDOC educates the public about responsible dog ownership. Instructors and Assistant Instructors are VDOC members. Instructors average 10-12 years experience in the dog show world. Classes include standard obedience concepts and also delve into socialization and problem solving issues that specific class members may experience with their animal companions. A class picnic is held one evening during class. Games, dog-sport demonstrations and animal CPR are featured.

An annual American Kennel Club trial is held in the fall of every year. This annual Obedience Trial is organized and staffed solely by members of the VDOC. Members of VDOC are encouraged to show their dogs locally and many, thru experience with VDOC, have gone on to show at out-of-town venues.

Pets-with-Santa is an annual fun and fund-raiser for VDOC. Pets and people are encouraged to have their portraits taken with Santa for a nominal fee.

Local charities such as Adopt-A-Pet, Six Flags Humane Society, P.A.W.S. and the Victoria City/County Animal Control are beneficiaries of all the above fund-raisers. Our constitution prohibits any member from profiting from VDOC funds. Supporting VDOC supports needy animals in Victoria and surrounding counties.
